Don't Be Deceived!

Image
Do you ever feel like you are in the twilight zone and wonder what is true, real, of God, and what is wrong or of the devil? As I was reflecting and writing this post I was looking for a twilight zone picture, you know the black and white spiral, when all of a sudden my Apple computer locked up and gave me a security message and number to call. It even threatened me with a fine if I left the page! I called and the tech walked me through how to unlock my computer but I immediately thought that they were going to want money for security. I was right! He said that now there is a security breach and I needed protection. So I was threatened, accused of doing some illegal activity, then I had scare tactics thrown at me! So Ill do my own research.  Crazy stuff happens all the time especially when we are Christians and working for the King. The enemy tries to get at us but sometimes its our own flesh.  DOUBT, WORRY, FEAR, UNBELIEF, STUBBORNNESS, PRIDE, ENVY, STRIFE, SELFI...

Pray About Everything

Image
We have all made mistakes. Have you ever bought something that you later regretted buying? Have you ever said something that you later regretted saying? Did you ever waste your time watching a horrible movie? We make decisions every day. Some seem virtually insignificant. We don't want to bother God with this or that and we think that we got it handled. By nature we are strong willed, self willed, egocentric, and self reliant. We naturally don't want to wait for an answer from God we just go along merrily and make a lot of false assumptions. But God says; Do not worry  about  anything, but in  everything  by  pray er and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6  I was asked if I could work an extra shift at work but my mom is staying with us and I really didn't want to go but I held off on giving a quick answer of yes or no and prayed about if I should go in or not and then I responded by saying ...

The Next Step

Image
After last weeks mid term elections the republicans have taken over the senate. Acknowledging the fact that Americans have voted for different leadership, the Chinese government was quoted as saying this; 'Obama always utters "Yes, we can," which led to the high expectations people had for him. But he has done an insipid job, offering nearly nothing to his supporters. 'U.S. society has grown tired of his banality.' So I looked up the word insipid and this is what I found; Laking flavor, "mugs of insipid coffee" tasteless, flavorless, bland, weak, wishy washy, lacking vigor or interest, unimaginative, uninspired, flat, uninteresting, lackluster, dull, drab, boring, dry, humdrum, monochrome, tedious, uneventful, run of the mill, commonplace, trite, tired stale, lame, wishy-washy, colorless, lifeless..etc.  Then I immediately thought of the word; LUKEWARM But since you are like  lukewarm  water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out ...

What is the point?

Faith, Hope, and Love  Have you seen the news headlines lately? They are looking pretty bleak. Here is just a small sample from this past week; Girls rapist invited to dinner then tortured to death  Mom arrested for disturbing Facebook photo   Police; Teen planned slaughter at school    Terminally ill woman ends life at 29, says "pay it forward"  50 Women and children dumped in a well and ISIS massacres 322 Sunni Tribesman  Courtesy of World Net Daily New York’s Highest Court Unanimously Rules in Favor of Incest ‘Marriage’ Between Uncle and Niece Well I could go on and on but you get the point. I actually still get shocked by some of the things that the news is reporting because its so gruesome and sick. Our country was not this way five years ago. Our society is quickly escalating into deeper wickedness, hopelessness, corruption, greed, lovelessness, and lawlessness.  But God  God is in this world and he uses people l...

Surrender

Image
So as I was researching this topic I found these words: Yield, relinquish control, to render or return, acceptance, acknowledgement, compliance, cooperation, and approval. We can consciously do all these things when we understand and know our God. We know the source of where we get our information, the word of God. We can place our trust in his word because we know that we serve a loving, merciful, all knowing God. We are living in a hostile, dangerous world and it tells us we need to do certain things to succeed, or feel better, or make more money, find a mate, or get peace. In addiction counseling the trained professionals say to practice yoga, in Buddhism to practice spiritual disciplines, some people say to get ahead in life to throw religion out the window!  In some Christian circles there are conferences that host special speakers, that aren't Christian but in the worlds eyes "successful" and they teach Christians how to succeed!? Why would we look...

Hope

I remember when I was a child playing this game with my siblings where you turn around and fall backward into their arms and they catch you, now if they are nice they catch you, but if they are holding a grudge toward you and want to get you back for something they might just let you fall! So you pretty much have to trust that they literally have your back! In the Christian walk when we experience difficulties for whatever reason, sin, unfaithfulness, pride of life, others sin etc.. We don't always feel confident that God is going to be there to catch us because we haven't been completely faithful, or honest, or walking with Him. Were guilty. So we lose confidence in the relationship because there's no communication and because of our sin we don't hear him. However, God is always pursuing us and the trial motivates us to seek him. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. The trial also motivates us to pray and repent. Know this, that God has a pu...

Jesus is enough

I was reflecting on Easter week and I got some postcards from church to hand out for this weekend so I was praying about who I was planning to hand them out to. My neighbor said happy Easter! Perfect opportunity, I asked her if she went to a church and she admitted she didn't so I invited her and gave her a card. I am feeling more of an urgency for the salvation of others, as our world grows dark and corrupted and Easter is the perfect time to invite others to church. The T.V. miniseries, the Bible has millions of viewers tuning in and Hollywood is astounded by the ratings, but the truth is- is that there is a desperate world that is hungry and thirsty for the truth and the hope that is only found in Christ Jesus. Maybe their tuning into the Bible because our lives are not reflecting the bible. It's easy as Christians to get distracted by problems, self, life, sin, that we forget who it is all about- Jesus. We need to have thankful hearts for the blood that was shed by ha...

Godly Relationships

Image
I felt so bad, my daughter recently discovered that she is gluten intolerant after experiencing countless headaches, stomach aches, and other pains. The worse part is that I made meatloaf, spaced out and put breadcrumbs in it. That very night she was suffering the effects of eating gluten (wheat protein). She told me the next day that she knows she ate something with gluten in it but she couldn't figure out what. I wracked my brain and couldn't figure it out either. Then at 3 AM in the early morning my brain started to function and I realized it was the breadcrumbs! I felt so bad I wanted to send her a text message right then and confess to her, but decided I better not wake her up. She laughed when I told her and she said jokingly she didn't think I would ever try to poison her! Even though it was unintentional she was suffering the effects of my negligence. In the same way relationships tend to get messy, we say the wrong thing, do the wrong thing and people get of...

Ears to hear

Image
Jesus went back to his hometown when he was doing ministry and the people there knew who he was, they knew who his parents were, and they knew that he was a carpenter. They were offended by the things that he said and so Jesus left because of their unbelief- he healed a few sick people then left, but he was amazed by their unbelief. They missed out on sharing the blessings of being a Christ follower and receiving the Kingdom of God. Why would he stay? Only to be mocked, rejected, and blasphemed? No, Jesus instructed his disciples that when people refuse to listen or welcome you when you proclaim the Gospel, shake the dust from your feet and leave. In another instance, Jesus is in the boat talking to the disciples about the leaven of the Pharisees and Herod but the disciples related the leaven to bread, they weren't understanding. So they begin to argue over the fact that there was only one loaf of bread, they had nothing else to eat on the boat with them. Then Jesus...

Training in godliness

Image
I recently saw the movie Chasing Maverick's. This movie is about a big wave surfer. My husband and I were going to watch it on the big screen, but the reviews were poor so we figured that we would wait till it came on DVD. I was sorry we didn't see it on the big screen because it was a very inspiring movie, clean, and for the young and old. I think what inspired me was the passion that the character, Jay had. He was determined to ride this big wave, but he knew that he had to be mentally and physically prepared and on the top of his game to succeed in riding this wave without injury or even death! In the same way, in this life we need to be mentally and physically prepared for the battles that we fight, and we need to be in the game, living out our lives in step with the Holy Spirit. When I read through the gospels I am in awe that people were fortunate enough to be with Jesus. They were desperate for him. The crowds always following, or searching for him. He would speak...

Failure

Jesus says these simple words; "come and follow me."  He said these same words to His disciples. The disciples did just this, they were a constant companion to Jesus when he began his ministry. It wasn't until the first night of the Feast of Unleavened Bread that Jesus predicted they would all leave Him; 31  Then Jesus said to them,  “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd,  And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’  Matthew 26:31 Peter proudly disagreed with Jesus, boasting that he would never stumble, even if he had to die , he would never deny Jesus.  That very night Jesus went to pray and he asked the disciples to pray and watch  He told them;  41  Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed  is  willing, but the flesh  is  weak.” Matthew 26:41 Regardless of the words of Jesus, they fell asleep. Jesus ...
