Glory
How amazing are the deeds of the Lord!
All who delight in him should ponder them.
Everything he does reveals his glory and majesty.
His righteousness never fails. Psalm 111:2-3, NLT
Have you ever been scared when your in bed, its about three in the morning and you hear the sound of thunder? Has it ever woke you up? I've been scared by nature. I love the seasons and rain, thunder, and lightening. If you have ever been to the beach you can understand the power of the roaring waves, the sheer forces of the ocean are incredible. Or maybe you live where there's tornado's? I lived in southern CA during the 80's and there were always earthquakes- that was scary! Yet we see the glory of God in all these things. "The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea." Psalm 29:2-4
God uses nature to show his glory.
"For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God." Romans 1:20
God uses us to show his glory.
How can we give glory to God in our lives?
We give glory to God when we praise his name, and when we speak about him.
"Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious he is." Psalm 66:1-3
"That is why I can never stop praising you; I declare your glory all day long." Psalm 71:7-9
We give glory to God when we confess our sin.
Then Joshua said to Achan, “My son, give glory to the Lord, the God of Israel, by telling the truth. Make your confession and tell me what you have done. Don’t hide it from me.” Joshua 7:18-20
When we are children of God- we reflect him. We reflect who he is.
"So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image." 2 Corinthians 3:18
I don't know about you- but I want to see God's glory. I want to see it in his creation, in people singing praises to him, and living their lives to glorify God. Moses said to God, "please show me your glory." (Exodus 3:18) And God did! "So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen." That's amazing!
We see a bit of God everyday when we wake up, go outside and see his creation. We feel the wind blowing in our hair, the warmth of the sun on our faces, and the majesty of the sky above. We see his glory when someone pours out their heart in prayer to Him, we see his glory when a congregation sings in praise to him, we see his glory when someone surrenders their life to Him.
When we believe in Him we give Him glory
"Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God." Romans 4:20 God told him that he would be the father of many nations, that he would have many descendants. Abraham believed in God and this is what made him righteous. Humanly speaking none of it made any sense, it was beyond impossible but Abraham believed that God could do anything.
When we have faith and believe in God, obey his Word, and believe his promises- it shows in the things that we do and say- this brings glory to God.
Blessings.
